UNESA's Strategy to Introduce Indonesian Language and Culture to Excursion Students from Saekyung University

Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA-Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) received a visit from a student delegation from Saekyung University, South Korea in the Meeting Room, 8th Floor of the Rectorate, Lidah Wetan Campus, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

A total of 10 Saekyung University student delegates underwent a one-week excursion study program, 14-18 November 2023 at the 'Home of Champions' Campus. This program is a follow-up to the MoU on academic strengthening cooperation signed by UNESA and Saekyung University previously.

The content of this program is an international cultural and knowledge exchange that aims to broaden students' horizons and strengthen cooperation between educational institutions.

Prof. Slamet Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., Director of Technology, Information, Communication, and Cooperation, UNESA said that the study excursion is expected to provide new insights in academic and non-academic fields for both students and lecturers.

"This activity is also a great potential for both universities to undergo further collaboration in the future. This is important as our efforts to encourage internationalization on all fronts that need to be supported by mindset, global insights for students and lecturers," he said.

Prof. Yoonsook-Shim, President of Saekyung University also accompanied the students from the 'Land of Ginseng'. He said that this activity has a big impact on the experience of students who will learn the basis of Indonesian culture.

In addition, he also had the opportunity to become a keynote speaker at the 'Unesa's International Forum of University Rectors' or Unifur 2023 which began on November 15-18, 2023.

One of the student representatives of Saekyung University, Park Ji min, revealed that she was very happy to be able to deepen the field of education at UNESA. The student expressed her impression of UNESA.

According to her, UNESA has many education study programs. She visited several study programs, including education study program in Faculty of Engineering, Ketintang Campus.

The lecturer, Shin Sungshik, Ph.D., said he was happy to accompany his students at UNESA. He also had the opportunity to be a visiting lecturer in Education Management Study Program, Faculty of Education (FIP) and Law Study Program, Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences (FISH).

The series of excursion study activities during the week began with BIPA learning. Then, they attended short lectures in various study programs, including PGSD Study Program, Education Management, Guidance Counseling, Special Education, Javanese Language, Natural Science Education, Economics, Labschool UNESA, and tours to several historical places in Surabaya.

The 10 Saekyung University student delegates are; Lim Byeong gil, Kim Dong ki, Hong Seok woo, Kwon Ki ho, Park Ji min, Shim Young joo, Jo Ha neul, Kim Na Hyun, Sung Ha Rin and Kim Yeon jung. []
