Strengthening International Reputation, UNESA Leaders Attend QS Higher Ed Summit Asia Pacific 2023

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) is committed to continuing to strengthen institutional governance and improve its reputation at the international level. This is shown by the 'Home of Champions' campus through its involvement in various international activities and world rankings such as QS Asia University Rankings (QS-AUR), QS World University Rankings (QS-WUR) to Times Higher Education (THE).
Most recently, UNESA leaders attended the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2023 which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 7-9, 2023. In the event themed "Creating the Right Outcomes: Universities and the Future of Work in the Asia Pacific", UNESA Rector Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., said the event brought together hundreds of universities across Asia.
There are several main reasons for the importance of this event, among others, to respond to recent trends such as the demographic gap in East Asia with the decline in the birth rate which has an impact on the decline in the number of young people of productive age and college.
In addition, it is also related to the acceleration of the impact of artificial intelligence or AI in all aspects of human life. "This activity is very important for UNESA to respond to the trend of global issues and engage together to answer various challenges in various aspects," said Cak Hasan (UNESA rector greeting).
Prof. Dr. Sri Setyo Iriani, S.E., M.Si, Head of Sub-Directorate of Domestic Ranking and Implementation of UNESA Ranking, added that this activity discussed many aspects such as global engagement, employability and outcomes, research and discovery, sustainability, innovation and knowledge transfer.
"It also discusses student demand, student motivation and behavior, student conversion, program demand and learning experience to improve UNESA's international reputation," said the lecturer and professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).
UNESA's involvement is expected to increase UNESA's international networking and collaboration. Not only that, the results of this activity also have a follow-up in the form of improving academic and employee reputation through improving the governance of the academic atmosphere, human resources, and institutional business processes.
There were a number of speakers who attended and delivered material in this forum, including Prof. Edward Peck as Vice Chancellor and President at Nottingham Trent University with the main topic of Global Engagement Strategy.
Matthias Lanouhe, Director of International Strategy, APAC/LATAM/Canada, also spoke about 'Contribute and Work Together between Higher Education and Industrial Partners in Order to Achieve a Sustainable City'.
